Adavus are the fundamental building blocks of Bharatanatyam. Every graceful movement, rhythmic pattern, and choreography is created from the combination of these basic steps.

At Satyajit Dance Class, students are trained with great emphasis on precision, posture, rhythm, balance, coordination, and grace. Every Adavu is practiced using Sollukattu (rhythmic syllables) while maintaining proper body alignment and expression.

Margam – The Traditional Bharatanatyam Repertoire

Margam literally means “The Path.” It is the traditional sequence of Bharatanatyam performance created by the Tanjore Quartet.

It is a carefully structured journey where every dance item represents a different stage of artistic and spiritual development. Students gradually learn each item while developing mastery over technique, rhythm, expression, and storytelling.
